Naltrexone is an increasingly important drug in the treatment of addictions, dependencies and diseases.

- Naltrexone has multiple hydroxyl groups results in it being a polar molecule, despite the presence of a benzene ring which is a non-polar structure. As a result, Naltrexone is often combined with straight-chain ester pro-drugs, however Dermaportation was able to achieve the results set out with the use of such esters.
